Meet Mike Henry

Mike Henry is the president, licensed architect and lead designer of the firm. His inspiration for choosing a career in architecture combined his abilities in art, science and math. His passion carries over to music, playing sax since high school and continuing today with the praise band at Northside Christian Church.

Meet Dedric Sanford

Dedric earned his AA in CAD Design in 2002. His experience since encompasses government, retail, academic, medical and residential design projects. He has been with the Michael Henry Architect firm for over three years residing in Newport News with his wife and three children.

Michael Henry Architect is a small architectural design firm established in 1995 by Mike Henry serving the general Hampton Roads, Virginia region.  Mike's past extensive experience since graduating from Auburn University in 1976 have exposed him to the workings of a sole practitioner, a 12-person firm and a 250-person multi-discipline firm with 3 offices. These experiences have blessed Mike with many professional relationships that have taught him about contemporary, traditional, eclectic and transitional architectural design over his 42 years of practice. Today, the four-person firm follows Mike’s years of experience and provides a level personal attention and design expertise to each of its clients.

Mike explains “We are regional by choice, preferring to serve our neighbors in Southeast Virginia to a national or international market. We're known for designing some of our region's finest custom homes built by the area's finest contractors. Examples of our commercial work are also found all over Hampton Roads for restaurants, retail centers, marinas, convenience stores and more.”
